What “in range” leaves out

A standard panel can be inside the reference range and still skip fasting insulin, a full thyroid panel, and inflammation markers. “Within range” means you do not have the disease the lab was built to flag. It does not mean the symptom has been explained.

The functional medicine page is where that longer look happens. Panels are chosen for the story. They are not a fixed menu of 60 tests, and they are not a biological-age score.

What the visit actually covers

Fatigue, weight that will not move, brain fog, cycle changes, and stomach trouble are the usual reasons people book. Sex hormones, a cortisol pattern, and thyroid are reviewed together when the symptoms point there. Bioidentical therapy is used only when the labs and the symptoms agree. It is not started from a quiz.

GI-MAP and related stool tests are used when bloating, irregular stools, or reflux are part of the picture. They look for imbalance and inflammation. They do not diagnose leaky gut as a disease, and they do not fix the rest of the chart by themselves.

NAD+ or an antioxidant infusion can be added after the workup, if a gap is actually there. It is not an anti-aging protocol, and it is not a substitute for the labs.

How this differs from a sick visit

Walk-in care is for a sore throat, the flu, or a minor injury. Concierge medicine is the longer primary-care relationship. Functional medicine asks why the symptom is still there after the usual panel was normal. Different page, different job.
